Memories Made

Kids are the best! They are a never ending source of amusement (and yes, frustration too!).

Highlights from this week---

At the girls lunch table:

Student 1 (who is slightly spacey)- "Do you have a talent, something you do that you are really, really good at and enjoy doing a lot all the time?"

Student 2- "Yeah, I do. I can't remember what it is though.... But I do!"

Student 1- "I know, I feel the same way. I just can't remember!"

:-D

On the playground:

Student (same cute space monkey from example 1)- running up to me without anything chasing her... "Miss Williams, did you know I am SO fast?!"

Me- "....oh?"

Student- "I am. I am super fast and nothing can catch me ever!"

Me- "...insert silence and dubious teacher look here..."

Student- "Why yes, you are F_______. You are the fastest student in our class, I bet!"

Then looking at me with delight and surprise-

"Why, thank you Miss Williams! Bye!"

As she turned at that point to continue demonstrating her mad running skills I had to ask myself if I had been taking ventriloquy lessons in my sleep! I am apparently now very good at passing on compliments that I didn't even think of through the mouths of my students! ;-P

At the beginning of English:

Student- "Miss Williams, I don't have a pencil."

Me- "Why not, G_______?"

Student- "Well, I lost my pencil case yesterday."

Me- "So, you knew before school started this morning then? What did we say about letting the teacher know you were missing supplies?"

Student- "That if we let you know before school you would lend us one and we wouldn't get a mark but if we didnt tell you we would get a mark for being unprepared?"

Me- "Yes. So... If you knew before school but didn't let me know, what does that mean you get?"

Student- "Um.... A pencil?"

Me- "No, you just said that if you told me you would not get mark. But then you said that you didn't tell me. So, what does that mean you get?"

Student- "Well, what I need is a pencil...."

Sigh, something is missing in the logic and flow of thought here! The guy is not destined to be the next Einstein! But he is awfully cute and fun... :-)

I love my kids! They are maddening, super fun, frustrating, enjoyable, infuriating, lovable, and ridiculous all in turns :-)
