At times I had to remind Kristan she was a little old to be one of the kids :-)
Of course, we had to have coloring time! Originally we were encouraged to do hand and finger prints with ink pads the church provided since the junior church pages have them coloring and putting on stickers. That was a mess.... speaking as the one who was in charge of "craft" time! Sadly, the ink pads disappeared from our Sunday school closet so we had to resort back to crayons. MUCH less messy with 2 year-olds!!!!
We have one young gentleman (?) who is new to the church thing and cries the whole time. When you hold him. When you put him down. When you talk to him. When you dont talk to him. When we sing. When we have story. When we color.... you get the picture. Several Sundays he wore himself out crying and fell asleep on the carpet. I don't think either of us was sorry to see that happen!
Miss Kristen was lesson this month and I was helper (and chief sobbing child holder!). We decided to trade off months at responsibilities so there would be more continuity for the kids. She did a great job teaching about Noah, how we ought to obey God, the animals on the ark, and God's protection. we sang songs, had a story, and "learned" a Bible verse together. She and I were doing those things at least!
Even though they sit there and do nothing, they are still awfully cute. (Don't be decieved by the 4 in these pictures, one week we had 7!)
It is a fun ministry to be involved in :-) Hopefully as time goes on and we get more adjusted to.... life as teachers shall we say, there will be other things to be part of as well. But for now, we have our class of tiny (usually) cute peoples to work with and start a foundation of knowing God in :-)
Having taught 2-y.o. SS class for years in WI (as well as being a mom ;o) I can tell you that they are absorbing waaaay more than it looks like! Keep up the good work!
